It's all relative

Today I got to start out with a shower. Wee ha! Seriously, is that what I've come to here on my blog? Telling you when I'm clean? I hope that the interesting factor goes up in the near future. Because you're really going to pop with excitement when you hear I ate red jello today. And I'll also let you know it may be the most delicious thing I've eaten in my entire life.

I saw the doctor today. I ran into him in the hall as I was doing laps. He smiled and said, "Well you must be feeling pretty good." I'm not sure I'd go so far as pretty good, but I'm doing fine. I did a few more laps and then he came in and visited me. He told me I could start on a soft diet today. And depending on how I tolerate that, he may take me off my morphine drip (boo) and start me on oral pain killers. And if I continue to do so well, I MAY get to go home Tuesday. He says he attributes my doing so well to being in shape and thin. YES! I may no longer own any if my female parts, but at least my Dr. called me thin :)

Anyhow, in 3 weeks, I'll go back to see him and we'll know for sure what the chemo deal will be. Pray that my recovery here will go well. That I'll digest tonight's food well. And that I'll get sleep tonight. I get a little worried about the nights.

Thanks for checking in with me. Still holding tight to Jesus over here. Keep the prayers coming. And may all your jello be delicious!

Hey E. I've cried for you. I've prayed for you. I've cried for you again and you and Steve and the kids are constantly on my mind. Wish we were close enough to actually help out.

Love you dear friend.

I would like to point out that I also said you were thin in my blog post about you! I would have said "skinny B#@%" but since you were going under the knife and all I decided to be nice. :)
Thanks for letting me visit today. You were a great encouragement to me!

Hello! I found you through Mommin' it up and also after a friend (38) was diagnosed with breast cancer. I swear God is smacking me and telling me to get the BRAC analysis testing. I have several relatives who had breast cancer and then hear of you and my friend in the same day. Was wondering if the doctor has mentioned the BRAC analysis testing for you? So much info to weed through. I am praying for you and excited to see you doing so much so soon. Thanks so much for sharing your journey with others.

Hey Elizabeth!

You don't know me, but a mutual friend Tricia asked me to pray for you and got me connected to your blog. I just wanted you to know that I'm praying for you and you're not alone. I'm a breast cancer survivor of almost 10 months now. It isn't something that you ever plan to hear especially when you're young. Keep leaning on the Lord and the amazing support system that you have.

Elizabeth, what a joy to see you doing so well. I will keep praying for God to comfort you, heal you, make his peace so very evident. Since you mentioned the nights, I will pray for you in the morning here, when it is night-time there (when I get up, it is 1 am for you). I will pray that you get good, deep, restful sleep, with sweet dreams of God's lovingkindness and maybe even of seas of red jello or pudding (or other favorite rich foods) that you can eat and eat and will never stick to your hips.

And if you should wake, that the Holy Spirit would harness your thoughts to help you only be able to remember God and that you would cherish having more time to "meditate on him in the watches of the night." as in Psalm 63. That Psalm is what I will pray, that you will remember that he is your help and that you rest in the shadow of his wings and can sing there for joy!

Because I am a weirdo person who has lived far away for 10 years, I have no idea what Zumba is, but yahoo for Zumba and your fitness!

Hey E! I have never read your blog before now. Boy, have I been missing out! I love the way you write. I love your authenticity. I was not aware of all the pain you've been through in the past year with losing your mom. Thanks for sharing your road. Your blogs are inspiring, because even though you have gone through hard stuff, you are still clinging to God in the midst of it all. That is a blessing to hear!

I finished reading Choosing to See back in January. What an amazing book. I was encouraged to hear that you are reading it too. I hope it is an encouragement to you.

Know that you are in my prayers. Ed and I have been praying for you and will continue to do so. I pray the Lord will continue to reveal Himself to you in real ways!

In His Love,
Debbie Gersch
