Steve just came out from speaking with the doctor. Unfortunately they did find cancer, however the doctor was very encouraged and confident that he was able to get everything. There was a spot on her colon that he also took out, but it hadn't attached to any other organs. There was a possibility of needing future surgeries if there were areas he couldn't get to but that was not the case thankfully. Her recovery time here will likely be up to a week now due to the need to also work on the colon. Chemo will start shortly after that.
Steve is informing family now, his mom and sister are on the way. E will not be awake for a few more hours. Please pray for him as he and the doctor talk to her after she wakes up. Pray for her emotionally as she processes this news.
Please hold off on visits until further notice. Your love and prayers are very greatly appreciated. Immediate needs for E and the family seem to be covered. Steve's mom will be in town helping with the kids for a while. Details to come for future food and any other needs for those wanting to do something. For now, please keep praying. Thanks.
In His grip with Elizabeth

As a friend who is far away, I am thankful to all of you who are close who will love and care for E and her family. I'm thankful for the community of believers in their lives! We are praying for all of you who will be loving and serving them through the coming recovery.
Praying for her as she comes out of surgery and for her to handle the news. Praying she feels safe & secure in her Father's hands! He is so all over this!!!
So sorry for the news. I will be praying for Elizabeth as she hears the results and for Steve as he deals with this as well. Praying that His love envelops you today.
I don't know Elizabeth but read her blog from time to time...I will lift her up in prayer, particularly as she is given this news. Praying she and her husband both feel God's presence today and know that He is holding them both in the palm of His hand.
Hey E,
I am praying for you and praying that God will meet you in this place. I am praying that friends surround you and let you process the way you need to. I am praying that God will be so close and show up in so many ways....
I will be praying for all the details.
You are His beloved,
Mitzi
Praying that His love and peace surrounds you all today as you deal with this. Much love to each of you, we will continue to pray for E and your family.
So sorry to hear the news. I will continue to pray for the following weeks in recovery and subsequent treatments. Praying for peace that passes understanding in all of this.
E, I will keep praying for you, Steve and the kids. I know God is hearing all the prayers that have been offered up for you.
Our family is praying! Love, Leaha and Asif Shaikh
Steve and Elizabeth,
Right when we heard the news Chris and I sat down to pray for both of you and your family. You are dear to our hearts and we will continue to pray throughout this challenging time. I read Psalm 16:7-8 this morning and I want to share it with you, "I will bless the Lord who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me. I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for He is right beside me." Warmly, Chris and Amy
So thankful for the update as it's been on my mind all morning. I also wish I was closer and could help out. I will continue to pray for a full recovery and that every single bit of the cancer was removed! Crazy how life can change so quickly and may we all learn a lesson about being thankful for every day we have.
E, my dear, dear friend... I am SO praying for you right now. Wish I could blow work off and go home to be alone to pray for you. Did you read "Jesus Calling" this morning before you went to the hospital?
"I want you to be all mine. I am weaning you from all other dependencies. Your security rests in Me alone - not in other people, not in circumstances. Depending only on Me may feel like walking on a tightrope, but there is safety net underneath; the EVERLASTING ARMS. So don't be afraid of falling. Instead, look ahead to Me. I am always before you, beckoning you on - one step at a time. Neither height nor depth, not anything else in all creation, can separate you from My loving presence."
Amen. Love you E and can't wait to come to Dayton to cook for you and babysit and help in any way I can and pray with you! And I'm serious... you better call me anytime, even in the middle of the night... when it's darkest.
Steve and E, you are being lifted up in prayer. We love you guys and pray that you feel God's peace and comfort today and in the days to come.
E, I've been thinking about you all day. I am so sorry that you and your family are having to go through all of this. I know you have a great support system, and I know how strong you are; hang in there! If you need some comic relief, say the word, and I'll kidnap Sikora and head to Dayton. I'm sure she could hang out in your dryer or something. Please let me know if there's anything we can do for you! Will continue to send positive thoughts and prayers your way.
It is amazing the way He works in our lives. I found this blog today and my prayers are with you and your family.
We are praying for you guys as you process this news. What a week this has been for your family. Continuing to pray for E's healing from surgery and for the road ahead to fight this. We love you guys and are asking God is give you an overwhelming sense of His peace and comfort.
Thankful today for technology that lets us also know about this right away from the other side of the world, so we can also come alongside and lift you up in prayer. I thank God for successful surgery today and pray for continued healing, endurance and strength for you and your loved ones. I pray the deep, deep love of Jesus, vast unmeasured, boundless, free - will flow over you as a mighty ocean when you awake, in its fullness over you. Underneath you, all around you, is the current of His love. I am thankful for his promise that when you are weak, He is strong.
Read your blog after a facebook friend posted it for prayer. I am praying for you and your family- that our Heavenly Father brings you peace that passes understanding !!
I found the link to Elizabeth's blog through Rob T., our pastor at Apex. You will all be in our prayers in the coming days for wisdom and peace that only our God can give!
It has been interesting reading through the blog...I was also a swimmer in my 'younger' days, adopted a daughter from China (thus also obsessed w/ all things Asian!), lost my mom (10years ago- gosh, time goes quickly) and have been on WW for most of my adult life...
This is my first time visiting your blog. I just wanted to let you know that I'm praying for you!
Linda
praying for your fam and so thankful we serve a God that can provide peace that none of us can understand. praying you feel that in a huge way today!!!
So sorry to hear about the news. I am a cancer survivor...there is always HOPE!
came here via Jenny (mommin it up) and I just wanted to add my prayers to all those that are here and unspoken.
more prayers going up via Jenny's FB request to pray. Praying God's protection over your family and standing in the gap with many brothers & sisters in Christ for you all!
I'm a adoptive friend of Susie Thomas. Please know that you are being lifted Up, that you are Held, even when the entire world seems like it's spinning out of control. You are an inspiration.ith1
Praying for you. So many people are praying for you! I do not know you, but my blog and facebook feeds are full of friends covering you in prayer and asking for all to do the same. God is good :)
E, Praying for you my dear friend. God is holding you in His right hand.
Read this blog through Jenny's blog asking for prayer. I read the previous few posts and was touched. I was diagnosed with cancer in 2008 and reading your story seemed so familiar with how you saw God's hand in it all. A verse I clung to during my experience was Isaiah 26:3..."You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you." While I did have my anxious moments, I can honestly say that God gave me His supernatural peace. Praying you will experience the same and that the body of Christ will uplift and encourage you during your days of treatment and healing.
Mommin it up posted about her dear friend E. I have been praying for your family and have others praying as well. May God continue to show Himself in your life. God Bless you and i look forward to this new journey with you. No circumstance that we experience is for naught.
